It has been 'Comic Week' in the library this week. Mr McCallum, our wonderful librarian, shared some different comic strips with us during our library session. We were then inspired to start to write our own comic strips.
We learned the difference between a speech bubble and a thought bubble. We also had to come up with a good title for our comic strips.
Welcome to our studio blog. We are 60 Year 1 and 2 ACTIVE Halswell kids who are excited about sharing our learning. We hope you enjoy our posts and we would love you to leave a comment.

T15 Swimming
We love swimming because...

Tamsin - when you swim your legs can grow when you kick
Nina - if we keep practising we will become great swimmers

Phoenix - it grows my brain
Tyler - it gets easier if we keep trying

Sofia - we listen to the teacher and at the end, we do dolphins and mushrooms
Aria - it helps us exercise and keeps us healthy

T14 Swimming
We thought of a lot of words to describe swimming this week...
We did some great writing using the wow words from our Wordle above.
I can feel the wet soggy water making little waves.
I wonder what it is like to be a mermaid.
By Naomi F
I can see lots and lots of goggles everywhere.
I can hear kicking and splashing.
I can smell the chlorine.
I can feel the water swaying in my face.
I wonder if I can be a dolphin going up and down.
By Naomi S
I can see the clear water.
I can hear people splashing.
I can smell the chlorine.
I can touch the cold wall.
I wonder how to get to the bottom of the pool
By Liam
I can see people, they look good.
I can hear people shouting.
I can smell the water's breath.
I can feel the cold water.
I wonder how they can fill up the pool.

Week 1 Swimming T10
T10 have had a fantastic first week of Starfish swimming.
It is great to see everyone participating and enjoying swimming. Not only are the children improving their swimming skills and learning about water safety, they are also developing important self management skills like learning how to look after their belongings, take risks and challenge themselves.
Tu meke, awesome work T10!
